    Description
    1998 Ford Mustang Cobra
For 1994, the Mustang underwent its first major redesign in 15 years. The new design, code named "SN-95" by Ford, was still based on the "Fox" platform, but featured dramatically new styling by Patrick Schiavone that incorporated some stylistic throwbacks to earlier Mustangs. The car remained rear-wheel drive. It greatly revived the popularity of the brand. Though the engine displacement of the GT and the Cobra is identical, their actual layout is very different. The GT is a single overhead cam engine while the Cobra is a dual overhead cam configuration. This accounts for a large percentage of the difference in power between the two, although the Cobra also has other performance improvements.
For consignment a 1998 Mustang Cobra version meaning it has a 4.6 Liter DOHC 32 Valve V8, and this one has a Vortech V2 supercharger attached. All black but it dances with a matte black large scooped and pinned hood, and 17-inch chrome Bullet wheels.
    Exterior
This would be the last year for the SN-95 version before another redux by Ford. Bathed in black base coat and a clear coat the steel panels are shiny and rust free. As a throwback the hockey stick cove is on the doors and this particular car sports a pinned large scooped hood, in satin black vs the shiny remainder of the exterior. A neoprene front bumper wraps the black grille, and as we move our eyes to the sides some rocker fairings are put on. On the trunk is a spoiler, and another throwback to the 60's versions are the 3 taillights, although these take on a larger more aero look. On the rear bumper is a C O B R A badge which is embossed on the bumper, and of course the SVT badge which was to eventually become the Shelby GT500 in 2007.
    Interior
A swing of the doors reveals ultra curvaceous door panels made up of molded vinyl and shiny plastic with satin silver power wind and lock buttons within the shiny panel. Inside nicely preserved high back black leather buckets have a racy curved center console splitting them. This has a Hurst shifter in the center. As we move up to the dash the black is interrupted by some silver panels, one with temp knobs, an aftermarket Kenwood Sirius capable CD radio. Just below is a Panasonic MP3/DVD player. On the dash top is a Pro Comp air fuel ratio gauge and a voltmeter. As we move to the driver's side a nice shiny aluminum instrument cluster panel sits under a black padded curved dash top. Two large centrally located white faced gauges, one a tachometer, and the other the speedometer, also have descending gauges on either side. Mounted on the A pillar are a boost gauge and an oil pressure gauge. The black rally steering wheel fronts this all in for the information dash. In back is a fold down rear seat which when in the down position has a potential NOS bottle mounting, with controls for it within the console near the storage bin/armrest between the buckets. Black carpeting is on the floors and above is a tight black felted broadcloth headliner. A shout out to the trunk where the battery is now mounted, and a fuel filtering system is also mounted in the spare tire well.
    Drivetrain
Under the hood is a 4.6 liter DOHC 32 valve V8 with EFi and a polished Vortech V2 Supercharger. On the back is a Tremec T45 which pushes power to the Ford 8.8-inch rear axle.
    Undercarriage
All clear with just some slight surface rust on the Spintech mufflers which show some rust on their welded seams. A shiny H pipe system is now in and allows for a very easy unimpeded exhale. Power disc brakes are on all 4 corners, and suspension is in good working order.
    Drive-Ability
She fired right up with a mighty roar, and accelerated to the test track. Here we experienced wonderful performance from the supercharged mill which consigner states produces 600hp. Braking was solid and handling very quick and nimble. Note, the clutch only engages when the foot pedal is at the bitter end, and prior to driving it any serious distance, it will DEFINITELY need new tires. Also the AC has been deleted.
A straight line menace, and an interesting looker with the satin scooped hood and shiny body. Supercharged, V8, and black leather interior all adds up to a super 1998 Mustang Cobra with some extra bucking power.
