Post card cutie from the past....
This large, vintage "CUPIE" (Kewpie), carnival-style doll from the
1920s
is of
sturdy composition
and
stands, 13 inches tall with huge painted, side-glancing (googly) eyes with hi-lites and long eyelashes, eyebrows, blushed cheeks, pug nose and smiling mouth. She has
spring-strung jointed arms,
life-like pink touches to her cheeks, chest, tummy and knees and
wide-spread little hands
to greet you
with nice finger detail, pudgy tummy and stiff chubby legs, cute tush, rosy knees and flat feet to stand. She still has all her original paint finish and her
original, wavy blond wig.
She is undressed except for those adorable, molded and painted, blue ribbed socks and black Maryjane shoes. She even has a small, molded round hole in the base of one shoe to install a stand or rod (similar to the mannequin dolls of that era).
She will bring a smile to your face every time you look at her!

"roaring twenties" era
, similar to the
"Betty Boop" dolls
and often won at
summertime carnivals
